Laundry Room--Laundry Pedestals

We purchased a new washer and dryer when we moved into our house (over a year ago) and planned on building a platform for them to sit on because we felt like the pedestals you could buy with the washer and dryer were too expensive. After a couple of saturday's and about $100 in materials it is finally done!!! {We saved about $400 since the pedestals what go with our w/d are $249 a piece.}
For anyone who is thinking of doing this project-do it! It took time but overall was not very difficult. We (and when I say "we" I really mean "Brian") followed this: tutorial.

I got a little nervous at the painting stage because the color looked a little too vomit-y for me...It matched the curtains perfectly so I just went with it. It looked better after a few coats.

I was only strong enough to help lift the dryer. Luckily we have awesome neighbors who are always willing to help. Thanks Greg!

Voila! I love it. The paint color looks much more muted underneath the washer and dryer so I really like the color now. I love having the w/d up high and the laundry basket storage underneath! The next step is to get cabinets put where that shelf is and the laundry room will be done!

Shelves!!!

After Thanksgiving, Brian's parents stuck around for the weekend to help us build some shelves in our storage rooms. After just 2 days and a little bit of blood the project was finished!

They are so sturdy and fits our needs exactly.

I have really enjoyed going through all the boxes we had in the basement! I've re-organized every thing and put it on the new shelves.

Chicken Coop: In Progress

The weather has finally started cooperating (sort of) and Brian has started building the chicken coop! It's coming along quite nicely! I'm so thankful for a wonderful father-in-law who has been lending his expertise and tools to the project...As well as my wonderful mother-in-law for lending us my father-in-law! :)

Coming Along!

The walls have drywall, tape, mud and texture! Also, the tile is almost finished as well as the stone, siding and shingles on the facade! Our house is really starting to come together! I am so anxious to see the color on the exterior and cannot wait to see the cabinetry installed!

4-Way Walk Through

We had the 4-way walk through of our house. It's when the 4 major trades of the house are finished (rough framing, electrical , hvac and plumbing) and we walk through to make sure everything looks right before they start putting the dry wall up. Brian also had the weekend to do some sweat equity...running some extra wiring and insulation. They already have all the windows and most doors in as well as the cement for the driveway poured. Our completion date is August 1st!!!
