We purchased a new washer and dryer when we moved into our house (over a year ago) and planned on building a platform for them to sit on because we felt like the pedestals you could buy with the washer and dryer were too expensive. After a couple of saturday's and about $100 in materials it is finally done!!! {We saved about $400 since the pedestals what go with our w/d are $249 a piece.}
For anyone who is thinking of doing this project-do it! It took time but overall was not very difficult. We (and when I say "we" I really mean "Brian") followed this: tutorial.
I got a little nervous at the painting stage because the color looked a little too vomit-y for me...It matched the curtains perfectly so I just went with it. It looked better after a few coats.
I was only strong enough to help lift the dryer. Luckily we have awesome neighbors who are always willing to help. Thanks Greg!
Voila! I love it. The paint color looks much more muted underneath the washer and dryer so I really like the color now. I love having the w/d up high and the laundry basket storage underneath! The next step is to get cabinets put where that shelf is and the laundry room will be done!
