Hot, Itchy, and Swollen

It's official! I have PUPP's. It's "Pruritic Urticarial Papules and Plaques of Pregnancy. This is a most unpleasant rash with an incredible itch that's only cure is delivery of the placenta." Basically, it's another one of those things that happens during pregnancy, but as soon as the baby is delivered the condition is gone. It started a few days ago. I thought it was just a reaction to some new lotion that I was using, but after it kept getting worse, I finally called the doctor who recommended a dermatologist. I then called and made an appointment for as soon as they could see me. This morning, I called back again and begged them to see me today. The doctor gave me some things to try and help clear it up, but he said that at best, he can just help keep it under control until the baby is born. The hydrocortizone cream that he prescribed has worked wonders already!!! However, I'm really getting tired of the heat and how it magnifies issues with pregnancy like rashes and swollen ankles!

Baby Shower!!

This last Saturday we had a baby shower! It was so much fun. Thanks so much to everyone who came and for the cute baby stuff!!!

Shauna and Sherry threw us an awesome baby shower...cute diaper cake and all!

Just a cute picture!

Brian and I opening our gifts! We got a car seat, cute clothes, diapers, and a diaper genie...Now we're ready for baby.

Spencer really liked the car seat. It was reassuring to know we'll (hopefully) be able to use the car seat for at least a year!

This is actually a picture from later that night at a mini mission reunion. I posted it cause you can really see how big I've gotten.

My first pregnancy cramp!

The other night I was rolling over in bed trying to get comfortable and as I stretched out my legs I got a "charlie horse" in my right calf. Being only half awake and not really knowing what was happening I grabbed my leg to try and massage it out. I quickly realized that wasn't doing any good and I grabbed my foot to flex it opposite direction of how the muscle was contracting and it finally released. I guess that I was making noise during all this because I woke Brian up and all he could do is say:"What's going on? Are you ok?" Needless to say, I was ok, but I hope that this doesn't become a regular occurrence!

Houston, we saw male plumbing!

That's right, we had the ultrasound today and saw substantial evidence that we are having a boy!!! Looks like the majority of you that voted were correct! Way to go! To be honest, Lindsey and I both thought we were having a girl. I guess we aren't very good guessers...

My Aunt Shirley was right in her comment earlier today - we do need some more boys to offset all of the girls on the Fromm side. Of the six kids in my family, Brad and I are the only ones to have a boy first. Kevin's family has another girl on the way, so taking their girl and our boy into account, my parents will have 9 granddaughters and 6 grandsons. On Lindsey's side, it's the complete opposite - 3 grandsons to 1 granddaughter.

Technology today is so amazing! The ultrasound machine our doctor uses is brand new and generates incredibly high quality images. They display the whole thing on a ginormous plasma TV mounted on the wall. We were able to see baby's arms and legs (including the bones inside), his spine, both hemispheres of the brain, his lips, nose, kidneys, stomach, blood flow in the umbilical cord, his bladder, hands, feet, gender parts, etc. The only thing we couldn't see very well were the 4 chambers of the heart because of how baby was positioned. When we go back in 4 weeks they will do another quick ultrasound to check that part out.

They usually record the whole thing for you to take home, but they were out of tapes today. I was so disappointed!!! I felt like cancelling the whole thing so I could go buy a tape, but I resisted. I guess I'll just have to take a tape with me next time just in case they're out again.

Look below for a few pictures from the ultrasound.

Here's a nice profile shot

Just a foot

We're having a WHAT?!?!

We have an appointment tomorrow (Tuesday) to find out whether we're having a boy or a girl! We're very excited to see baby and how well he/she is developing.

If you haven't already, cast your best guess on our poll. Those of you who guess correctly will........have the satisfaction of knowing you guessed correctly!!! It doesn't get any better than that folks!

Exciting Announcement!

We're going to be parents!!!! That's right, we're going to have a baby in August! We wanted our moms to be the first to know, so we waited until their birthdays (the 27th for my mom and the 30th for Lindsey's mom) to start telling people. We're both very excited!
